TSAVO CONSERVATION FUNDRAISER

In July, the Tsavo Conservation area was hard hit by fires that were ravaging one of the country’s largest eco-systems. The dry grass made it even more difficult to contain the fires as they rapidly spread. We held a fundraiser and with the support of friends we were able to support over 100 rangers with food and water rations as they battled intense fires. As the covid pandemic struck, most of the community’s members living in the Tsavo conservation area depended on tourism for their sustenance. With the lockdown in place, it meant that a lot of them had lost their incomes. We supported an ongoing relief program that provided over 1,200 meals to families that were in vulnerable and in desperate need.

With support, we provided vulnerable women with seedlings and water for a kitchen garden that would see them grow their own vegetables and any extras sold for a small income. We were able to support 2 gardens during this time.
